In a recent crackdown on illicit activities, the multi-disciplinary team, Operation Vala Umgodi, executed crime prevention operations in Postmasburg based on actionable intelligence.
The operation, conducted on Friday, 03 May 2024, targeted suspected drug houses in the area.
Nine male suspects, aged between 20 and 48, were apprehended during the raid for various charges including illegal possession of suspected drugs with an estimated street value of R22,000.
Additionally, possession of ammunition and suspected stolen goods were among the charges laid against the suspects.
The raid yielded significant findings, with authorities seizing cash believed to be proceeds of criminal activities, cell phones, drugs, suspected stolen South African Defence Force (SANDF) uniforms, ammunition, and gas pistols.
The arrested individuals are slated to appear in the Postmasburg Magistrates Court to face the charges brought against them.
Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, commended the Operation Vala Umgodi team for their swift and effective action in removing dangerous weapons and illicit substances from the streets.
Otola emphasized the importance of community cooperation in reporting illegal activities to law enforcement, reinforcing the collaborative effort required to combat crime effectively.
